Geek Gear began late last year during a discussion with APC (Australian Personal Computer - Australia's leading computer magazine). The discussion centred on the dynamic growth of on line shopping in Australia and the jungle of solutions that are available. Tony Sarno, the Editor decided to do a workshop via a series of articles taking his readers through the various stages of creating an online business or adding an ecommerce capability to an existing business.
The geeks at Netmerchant came up with the idea that a real life case study would add value to the articles and Geek Gear was born.
During the past two months we have registered trading and domain names. We have designed and built our website whilst setting up banking details, secure on line payment systems, identifying suppliers and procuring a limited range of products.
We readily admit that at launch geekgear.com.au is not the definitive site for geeks however we are on our way.
What started out as a bit of fun has become a lot of fun. It was never our intention to be in this business but the high level of interest in this project is causing a serious rethink.
The future of Geek Gear is now in your hands and we look forward to your feedback and suggestions in terms of direction, content and product.
